The Kanata North Community Garden was inspired by the Kanata Environmental Network and Executive Director Julie Gourley more than 10 years ago. Kanata North Community Garden was born out of a vision of sustainable food access.

Championed by the Kanata Chinese Seniors Support Centre with funding from the City of Ottawa’s Better Neighbourhoods the garden partnered with the local Briarbrook-Morgan’s Grant Community Association and the vision became real.

It took years of hard work and hundreds of volunteer hours for the community to see the garden blossom. With a dedicated group of committee members we see ourselves as a community asset helping share our experiences and knowledge, helping create new partnerships and sharing information on the value of urban agriculture.
